Vivo unveils the Vivo X Fold, the company’s first foldable phone

Vivo unveils the Vivo X Fold, the company’s first foldable phone. Samsung has a monopoly on the worldwide foldable market, but Chinese businesses have attempted to compete with the Korean giant’s offers. The Vivo X Fold is the newest addition to this very new category, and it looks remarkably similar to the Galaxy Z Fold3.

Vivo’s first foldable phone is official, following weeks of teasing and rumors. The Vivo X Fold is the latest smartphone to deviate from the basic design that has been in use for well over a decade. The X Fold gives consumers a foldable display protected by a layer of “ultra-thin glass” created and manufactured by Schott, rather than a rigid sandwich of plastic, metal, and glass that can only become so big before it no longer fits in a pocket.

Samsung uses that same material for its Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold3, but Vivo makes bolder claims about the foldable phone’s endurance. The X Fold’s inner 8.03-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display, according to the manufacturer, can withstand at least 300,000 folds before developing a flaw, which is far more than Samsung’s advertised durability of 200,000 folds.

The hinge of Vivo X Fold, according to Vivo, allows the screen to be tilted between 60 and 120 degrees, allowing it to be used in tent mode or as a bit of a laptop, which can be helpful for video chats and timed shots. Otherwise, you may fold the new phone flat for additional screen real estate or entirely close it on instances when you can get by with the smaller outer screen.

A 50-megapixel primary camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 12-megapixel 2x telephoto lens, and an 8-megapixel 5x periscope camera are all part of the enormous camera module on the rear. Vivo has included a punch-hole 16-megapixel selfie camera on both the interior and exterior screens to be pleased phone camera enthusiasts.

Two in-display fingerprint sensors on each side of the inside screen are also remarkable features. The Vivo X Fold also has a reverse wireless charging capability of up to 10 watts and an alert/mute slider modeled after Apple’s.

Unfortunately, this is a China-only product, and Vivo has no intentions to bring it to the rest of the world – at least for the time being. The Vivio X Fold will cost 8,999 yuan ($1,413) for the standard model with 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of storage and 9,999 yuan ($1,570) for a variant with double the capacity.
